Day 155…Lockdown’s Learning Curve.

Lockdown’s Learning Curve.

We’ve had spring and summer in Lockdown

And now the nights are drawing in

It’s been so tough for everyone

Time to reflect over tonic and gin.

All human strength’s been put to the test

By this demon that no-one can see;

I’ve learned so many lessons

And found out so much about me.

My heart wells over with joy when I speak

With my family on the phone;

I’m proud to watch them cope so well

And I’m dying to go see them soon.

I recognise now what matters the most…

Connection and community;

To show respect for people’s feelings

And their vulnerability.

I can see it’s best to button my lip

When I want to be judgemental;

I value people with humility

And those who are kind and gentle.

I know where to go when I need some calm

And the feel good factor in friends;

The sea and adrenaline make me feel good

And positivity, all else transcends.

I’ve painted a bit and faffed a lot,

Made cakes to scoff by the score;

My mind won’t focus to sit and read books,

But I’ll run the cliffs ’til I’m sore.

I have days when I’m oh so sociable

To chat is such great therapy;

Other times I like to be by myself,

Sat on the beach with my flask of tea.

Mostly I’ve learned not to plan ahead

But to live one day at a time;

That to get through this, my motto is…

‘Small steps, large swigs of wine!’
