Day 50… Looking Back at Lockdown.

My final daily poem since Lockdown began…it’s a good round number to stop on…from now on I’ll write a poem each week to reflect what is happening.

Looking back at Lockdown.

Fifty days of Lockdown done…

A rollercoaster ride we’ve run.

A mass of emotions, many woes,

Since the life that we knew froze.

Lockdown was incredibly sudden,

Non-essential trips forbidden.

Home schooling, offices shut;

Life on hold, as Covid disrupts.

For me there’ve been many lows and highs

I’ve loved the outdoors, the clear blue skies.

Not seeing my family’s been really bad

And losing my mum left me so so sad.

We’ve picked up the phone, chatted more

Cleared out cupboards, painted walls,

Jigsaw puzzles, new hobbies,

Family quizzes and zoom parties!

We’ve been scared we’ll catch the virus,

Terrified we’ll lose someone near us,

We’ve worried about our mental health

And feared for all our jobs and wealth.

The world’s in such a state of confusion,

Country’s in discord, not acting as one.

Much to praise yet lots to blame,

So little known about this virus strain.

And now we’re emerging from isolation

A tricky route for navigation;

Will the virus represent a mere blip

Or a new era into which we trip?

…We’ll just have to wait and see.
